How are non-target schools considered for generalist recruiting?

If you are from a non-target school, you may apply since most firms will still review applications from non-core students.

Networking can be very important for non-target candidates and office preferences play a role since some offices do more non-target hiring than others.

There is typically a general deadline on the firm website for all other schools that aren’t considered ‘target’ and a team of people who review the non-target applications, but no campus events.

Also, non-target hiring is more common for the undergrad role and masters, but not very common for MBA recruiting.
